  • How is Functional Nutrition counselling beneficial for treating me when I haven't felt well in a long time?
When starting to work with you, we will delve into your past health history together to complete the most detailed account, something that has possibly never happened for you. Once that is completed, the sleuthing begins to find where the roots of your issues began and how to find ways to make positive changes in the soil or terrain of those roots to get you feeling better. Understanding that we are all so different and that what works for each of us is different as well.
  • Do I have to make a lot of drastic life changes when working with a Functional Nutrition Counsellor?
When working together, I am going to meet you where you are. Between the two of us, we’ll figure out whether you are ready to dive in to the deep end, or if slow and steady will be more your style. Either way, we’re both going to learn a lot about what brought you to where you are right now, and the best way for you to step forward.
  • Is Functional Nutrition a "quick fix"?
It is not. It most likely took a long time for you to get to this point and understanding and unravelling all the minute details and clues of it, does take some time. After all, we aren’t looking to put a band aid on your health issues, we are looking to find their roots and minimize their effects on you as much as possible.
  • Do I have to give up everything that I love to eat?
Not necessarily. Part of working together is definitely making connections to events or possibly foods that have been turning points for you in your health journey. Once I have put together your health history and timeline, we can move forward into looking for clues of what may be detrimentally affecting your body system. Maybe there will be some old go to’s that you will have to say goodbye to, but that leaves room to discover some new favourites.
  • How long can I expect to have to continue working together?
In the beginning, once the first three sessions have been completed, sessions are scheduled once a month. When you notice that you are experiencing positive changes and are feeling better, you may feel comfortable sticking with your current lifestyle and switching to more of a maintenance schedule where we have sessions every few months. Of course, everyone is different and what they require and how often varies greatly.
